The Gardens

The Wishing Stream is situated on a plot of around 2 acres which is divided into a central courtyard area, the buildings with their private garden areas to the rear, and, beyond these, a communal area comprising a large, flat play lawn, and wilder meadow areas beyond. The grounds are encircled by the wishing stream itself on one side, which then leads to trees and scrub land beyond, and an ancient breton bridal path on the other. Beyond the bridal path, the land is owned by ourselves so you can rest assured the property is utterly private, calm and tranquil. There is also a woodland area beyond which we have not yet developed.

You will enter into the courtyard through gates which keep the property completely safe for children, and will find the cottages on the left, but the parking on the right. This ensures all of the courtyard windows and doors overlook flowerbeds and seating areas, and you can enjoy the quick stroll across the courtyard to the swimming pool or enjoy the suntrap gravel gardens.

Each cottage has its own private garden area with bbq, eating and sunbathing  areas. We have kept boundaries unimposing, separating with low walls and fences and large flowerbeds to create the right balance of privacy and still allow guests to meet and get to know each other if they wish.

Beyond the gardens, the play lawn is the area for games including trampolining, badminton, football or soft archery. We also have swingball and outdoor table tennis, and you are welcome to bring your own games if you wish.

The rest of the garden is a relaxed area of meadow grasses, shady trees and the wishing stream itself, which is safe enough for small children to potter and includes a little bridge where you can play pooh sticks or sit and watch the dragonflies and wildlife.
